MY SUMMER PORTFOLIO

My Summer 2017 Communications Internships

INTERNSHIP NO. 1 : Tiny Homes Classified
Lisa Ward, Maryland native and founder of micro-living resource website, “Tiny Homes Classified,” is a minimalist. She believes in conscious living, and that was the pinnacle component of her daily life that motivated Ward to create Tiny Homes Classified in 2012. In her daily life, she stands by the idea of “living a big life by going tiny,” which is the slogan for her website, Tiny Homes Classified, a branch of the American Tiny House Association. Tiny Homes Classified’s headquarters is based in Severna Park, Maryland and has been operating since 2012. The team behind Tiny Homes Classified has a clear goal of educating the public on conscious living and assist tiny home owners nationwide in the form of tips, building materials and community.

This summer I was able to help Tiny Homes Classified further their mission as a design intern. My responsibilities ranged from helping the team creatively during frequent brainstorming sessions to designing content for the company's web platforms.

Below is a visual representation of the work that I have done with Tiny Homes Classified this summer.

Above is a video campaign that I helped my supervisor create, to be released this upcoming Fall. This video took a lot of teamwork to come up with the proper wording and explanation for the site. We hoped to illustrate just what THC does in a concise, visually captivating way.
I used Final Cut Pro X, a new program I've learned this summer, to create the above video.
Below is imagery that I created based on quotations about sustainable and conscious living for the company's social media handles. I used Adobe Photoshop to create these images.

Below is a blog website that I was enlisted by my supervisor to create including stories of tiny home owners. The stories will continue to be posted every several weeks for the next year. I was assigned to design the webpage. I used Weebly to create the website and Adobe Photoshop to design the visuals.

To the left is the logo that I designed for the Tiny Homes Classified blog, entitled "Go Tiny, Live Big."
My supervisor and I discussed creating a simplistic logo, and so I went with a simple black outline of a house. This is the universal image of a house (square base, triangular roof) that is understood as a "house" to nearly everyone.
Below are stills from the website that Tiny Homes Classified is mainly operated from: http://www.tinyhomesclassified.org
The website is programmed with Joomla, a new program that I'd never worked with in my prior studies.

I created several Pinterest boards this summer to better articulate my design ideas to my supervisor. Below are screenshots of one of the boards.
